Whilst on the video trip with Emma, we took the opportunity to shoot some photos in the park and surrounding area. I wanted to try out some new ideas that were completely informal rather than posed and we both had fun trying them out. Shot with a Nikon D610 and 85mm f1.8 lens most of the time, we strolled around the park near South Shields beach and also ventured into the fun fair too. Got told off when we were in the fun fair though because I had what looked like a professional camera, probably should have used my iPhone. It’s not an uncommon scenario I know with photographers and their DSLRs. But we complied nicely and stopped shooting there and just moved on.
I always enjoy the experience of going up to see close friend and singer Emma Kate Dawson and this trip up to South Shields near Newcastle was going to be a bit busier than normal as we wanted to put together 2 videos of original songs that Emma had recently written. We’d been collecting some ideas previously of how we would put these together and so on the day I just kept it quite simple as far as kit was concerned using just a Canon 200D and kit zoom lens for the video. Everything was predominantly fine doing the recording of both videos but even despite the use of some ND filters it was still difficult on a bright sunny day to stop the highlights from clipping.
